Star Student Athlete: Leesburg Golfer Shines Off The Course Too
We all know athletes who shine whether they're competing or not. Let's help share these amazing stories!

LEESBURG, VA — We all know student athletes who also bring their A-game to other parts of their lives. Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities.
We’re working to let all your neighbors know the individual stories behind the leaderboard. This submission comes from Isabel Sok who nominated Allyson of Leesburg.
Sok nominated Allyson, her niece, for her willingness to take chances on the course and help her community in her day-to-day life.

Why do you believe the star student athlete should be recognized?
Allyson has stepped outside her comfort zone to join a predominantly male high school team sport. She had a late start in learning golf but has dedicated much of her free time to excelling at the sport. Off the course she can be seen supporting her special needs classmates in inclusive adapted sports opportunities. She is also known to spend time leading therapeutic activities with local older adults with dementia. I don't know where she gets time to do it all but I do know she is motivated by challenging herself as well as helping others. She is well deserving of recognition!
What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star student athlete? Allyson only started playing golf when she was 13 and made the varsity golf team as a freshman.
Keep up the great work, Allyson!
