Increased Police Patrols At Heritage High School This Week After Threat: Police
Police in Leesburg are investigating a threat involving Heritage High School. There will be additional patrols at the school this week.
LEESBURG, VA — A threat involving Heritage High School was reported to the Leesburg Police Department, authorities said. Police officials said they do not believe the threat is credible.
Authorities learned of the threat through the Loudoun County Public School system's Safe2Talk app, which allows users to report an array of incidents at schools.
"As the investigation continues and out of an abundance of caution, parents can expect extra patrols at the school from LPD during school hours this week due to the threat," the Leesburg Police Department said in a news release. "The Leesburg Police Department School Resource Officer assigned to Heritage High School continues to investigate the matter."

The Safe2Talk app is available to anyone. The free service allows users to select a school and report an incident to police. Reports through the app are monitored 24/7 by dispatchers, authorities said.
Incidents that can be reported through the app include threats of violence, drug use, graffiti, abuse, sexual assault, or weapons on school property.
