- The Town of Leesburg is reorganizing its staff. Leesburg Town Manager Kaj Dentler announced that the town is creating a Department of Community Development in addition to hiring a new assistant town manager, current Deputy Director of Leesburg Parks and Recreation Kate Trask. The Department of Community Development is set to combine the current Plan Review and Planning and Zoning departments in an effort to increase efficiency and focus on customer service. - The Loudoun Health Department recently opened a new office for the women, infants, and children (WIC) program in Leesburg at 50 Sycolin Rd. - Did you know that July is National Parks and Recreation Month? To celebrate, Loudoun County Parks, Recreation and Community Services is introducing "Passport to the Parks," a way to connect residents to local parks and nature reserves. Participants will receive a stamp on their passport when they visit a participating park or reserve, and the first 100 people to complete one of two Passport to the Parks tiers will win a prize. - Thomas Balch Library will be closed next week from Monday, Jun. 26-Friday, Jun. 30 in order to re-organize its collection to debut its new Centennial Catalog. This distinguishes the library as an independent research library, owned and operated by the Town of Leesburg, and will result in the switching from the Dewey classification to the Library of Congress classification. - The Town of Leesburg will host its 33rd Annual Independence Day Celebration on Tuesday, Jul. 4. The celebration will begin with a downtown parade at 10:00 a.m., followed by a free concert and fireworks later that evening in Ida Lee Park. (Town of Leesburg, Virginia)
- A new Asian-style restaurant is set to come down the road at the Cameron Chase Village Center. Once opened, Matsu Poke will occupy the space formerly housed by Subway and will be led by the same team behind Matsutake Sushi & Steak. The restaurant has an anticipated opening of fall 2024.
