Virginia State Police Trooper Recognized by local SAR Chapter for outstanding service

Master Trooper, William “Billy” F. Hardin Jr. was presented the SAR Law Enforcement Commendation Medal on July 3, 2025 by SMJC Compatriot Rhett Wade. Trooper Harden retired as a police officer after thirty-nine years of outstanding service to his community and to the Commonwealth of Virginia. In addition to service as a police officer, Trooper Hardin served honorably in the United States Marine Corps from June 1982 to June 1986, He started his career in Law Enforcement with the Fairfax County Police department as a Patrol Officer from October 1986 to October 1989. Billy’s childhood desire to become a State Trooper was realized when he became a Virginia State Trooper in October of 1989 and served for thirty-six years in Division 7 rising to the rank of Master Trooper. During his extensive law enforcement career, “Billy” has served in many capacities, including assignment as a Special Agent with the Bureau of Criminal Investigations participating in a U.S. Marshal’s Drug Task Force. In addition to serving with the Division 7 Tactical Team, he has served the citizens of the Commonwealth in numerous high risk and protective roles with distinction. Throughout his career as a U. S. Marine, Fairfax County Police Officer and a Virginia State Trooper, William “Billy” F. Hardin Jr. served our Nation and the Commonwealth of Virginia with the highest level of integrity, honor, and distinction.

For outstanding service over a career, the Sgt Maj John Champe Chapter, Virginia SAR was honored to recognize Master Trooper Hardin.
