What's Open, Closed Around Leesburg On Christmas 2022

Christmas closings in Loudoun County begin Thursday and continue through the Christmas weekend. Most facilities will reopen Tuesday.

LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA —Christmastime is here. Some facilities in Leesburg and around Loudoun County will begin closing their offices on Thursday. Most government facilities will remain closed through the weekend and reopen on Tuesday.

Below are the openings and closings to know for Christmas around Loudoun County.

  • Loudoun County government offices: Closed from Friday, Dec. 23 through Monday, Dec. 26. Offices will reopen on Tuesday, Dec. 27
  • Loudoun County Public Schools: Schools and offices are currently closed for winter break. They will reopen in the new year.
  • Courts: Loudoun County courts are closed on Friday, Dec. 23 through Monday, Dec. 26. They will reopen on Tuesday, Dec. 27.
  • Loudoun County libraries: Libraries will close at 5 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 23 and remain closed until Monday, Dec. 26.
  • Post offices: Some locations may have limited or extended hours on Dec. 24. Check with your local post office. All post offices are closed on Dec. 25.
  • DMV offices: Closed on Dec. 23, Dec. 24, Dec. 25, and Dec. 26.
  • Metro: On Christmas Eve, trains will run on a Saturday schedule, from 7 a.m. to 1 a.m. On Christmas Day, trains will run on a Sunday scheduled from 7 a.m. to 12 a.m. On Monday, Dec. 26, trains will run on a Sunday holiday schedule from 7 a.m. to midnight.
  • Leesburg trash: Trash collection will not be affected, as Christmas Day falls on a Sunday.
  • Loudoun County landfill: The landfill will be closed on Saturday, Dec. 24 and Sunday, Dec. 25.
