What's Open, Closed For New Year's Day 2023 In Leesburg

In Loudoun County and the Leesburg area, the New Year's holiday changes schedules for government offices and other facilities.

LEESBURG, VA — Another year has come and gone. In Leesburg and the rest of Loudoun County, government facilities and offices will close to allow their workers an extra day off to start the year.

This year, New Year's Day falls on a Sunday. Many government offices and other facilities will remain closed on Monday, Jan. 2 to recognize the occasion.

  • Loudoun County government offices: Closed on Monday, Jan. 2.
  • Leesburg government offices: Closed on Monday, Jan. 2.
  • Loudoun County courts: Closed on Monday, Jan. 2.
  • Loudoun County libraries: Closed on Sunday, Jan. 1.
  • Loudoun County transit: No service on Sunday, Jan. 1.
  • Loudoun County Public Schools: Closed for winter break.
  • Leesburg trash collection: Trash collection is not affected by the holiday.
  • Post offices: Some locations may have limited hours on Dec. 31. Check with your local post office. All post offices are closed on Monday, Jan. 2.
  • Metro: Metrorail will offer extended hours on New Year's Day. After 8 p.m. on New Year's Eve, all trips will be free.
  • DMV offices: Closed on Monday, Jan. 2.
