What's Open, Closed For Thanksgiving 2023 In Leesburg
Offices and services around Loudoun County are changing their hours for the Thanksgiving holiday. Here are some of the closings to know.
LOUDOUN COUNTY, VA — Thursday, Nov. 23 is Thanksgiving Day and a federal holiday, which means government offices, schools and some businesses will take a break in its observance. Many government offices in Loudoun County will also close on Friday, Nov. 24, for Black Friday, allowing their workers a four-day weekend.
Here's a look at what's open and closed on Thanksgiving, Black Friday, and throughout the holiday weekend in Loudoun County.
- Loudoun County government offices: Government offices will close at 12 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 22 and will remain closed through Thanksgiving and Black Friday.
- Town of Leesburg government offices: Closed on Thursday, Nov. 23 and Friday, Nov. 24.
- Loudoun County Schools: Schools and administrative offices will be closed on Thursday, Nov. 23 and Friday, Nov. 24.
- Post offices and mail: Closed on Thanksgiving Day. No mail will be delivered.
- Loudoun County courts: Courts in Loudoun will close at 12 p.m. on Wednesday and remain closed for Thanksgiving Day and Black Friday.
- Loudoun County Transit: Loudoun County Transit will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. Service will operate on a significantly reduced schedule on Black Friday. View Thanksgiving Day service changes online.
- Libraries: All Loudoun County Public Library locations and book returns will be closed for Thanksgiving from noon on Wednesday, Nov. 22, through Friday, Nov. 24. Services will resume Saturday, Nov. 25.
- Historic Sites and Museums: The Loudoun County Visitor's Center is closed Thanksgiving Day.
- Trash Collection: There will be no trash or recycling collection in the town of Leesburg on Thanksgiving Day. Due to the holiday, all remaining collections will be shifted by one day.
- Loudoun County landfill: Closed on Thursday, Nov. 23. Will reopen on Friday, Nov. 26.
