Community Corner

Block Party at the Workhouse This Saturday

Celebrate Summer with a day of community events at the Workhouse Arts Center on Saturday, June 23 from 3-7pm. Come out and enjoy the weekend with family activities, music, a community resource tent, food from some of Lorton’s most popular restaurants, and, of course, art!

This event will kick off with a performance by the Patchwork Dancers. On the lawn, the Fairfax County Park Authority golf pros will offer family-friendly SNAG (Starting New at Golf) golf lessons for youngsters on the Quad, and the zany Workhouse Jester will be on hand to encourage good-natured mayhem and mirth! Guests can watch the Northern Virginia Archers (NORVA) demonstrate Traditional and Compound Archery and visit our community resource area to learn about the fun, educational and creative resources available in the region. Workhouse Artists will be on the Quad and in their studios as they demonstrate their work and share their creative talents.

During all the excitement, attendees will also have the opportunity to give back to the community. A Food Drive will take place for the Lorton Community Action Center. The LCAC will be on-site to collect non-perishable food items including tuna, canned beans, peanut butter and cereal. Bring your donations to the collection truck on the Quad and visit with the folks from the LCAC to learn about their services and how the community can both benefit from and contribute to this important organization.
