The Maryland Pastel Society Shades of Pastel Exhibition
The Maryland Pastel Society (MPS) will host the 2011 Shades of Pastel national juried exhibition from October 26-November 20 at the Workhouse Arts Center. Featuring artwork in soft pastel by artists throughout the United States and Canada, the exhibition's awards ceremony and artists' reception will be held Sunday, November 6 from 2-5pm.
The 2011 judge for selections and juror of awards is Liz Haywood-Sullivan, PSA, IAPS/MC. A traditional representational artist specializing in pastel landscapes, Ms. Sullivan teaches nationally and internationally and is a judge and demonstrator for pastel societies and arts organizations around the U.S. Her paintings have won numerous awards and have been featured in local, national, and museums shows and are included in private and corporate collections worldwide.

In addition to serving as the 2011 Shades of Pastel juror, Ms. Sullivan will give a pastel demonstration on Sunday, November 6, from 11am-1pm at the Workhouse. Admission is $35 pre-paid or at the door. For further information, contact Daniel Wise, exhibition chair, at 703-258-4283.
MPS is the oldest state pastel society in the country, having been founded in 1977. MPS membership exceeds 200 artists, art enthusiasts, and patrons, living and working all along the Atlantic seaboard from New Jersey to Florida, but concentrated primarily in Maryland, Virginia, and Washington DC.
