Lorton Man Sentenced to Five Life Terms for Killing W.Va Woman and Child
Antonio Prophet maintained innocence at sentencing hearing Monday.
Antonio Prophet, , was sentenced Monday with five consecutive life sentences in prison, plus an additional 20 years.
Prophet, 36, was convicted in July in Berkeley County Circuit Court with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of first-degree arson in the deaths of Angela Kay Devonshire, 22, and Andre White, 3, of Bunker Hill W.Va. The jury determined that he slashed their throats and then set her house on fire. Their remains were found on June 6, 2010.
Prophet maintained his innocence, and, on Monday, told the court that he saw the murders committed by another man and barely escaped from the burning home with his life.

Presiding 23rd Judicial Circuit Judge Christopher C. Wilkes gave Prophet the maximum sentence. “The story you told (on the witness stand) was incredible and they were not going to believe it,” Wilkes said, according to Herald-Mail.com.
Surveillance footage after the time of the incident shows Prophet buying beer at a local convenience store. Prophet reportedly made his way south from West Virginia first by taking a cab from West Virginia to Manassas, where he was seen at the 90 Grados Restaurant and Sports Bar before making his way to a homeless shelter in Charlotte, N.C. He was arrested at the shelter on June 17, 2010.

“There were hundreds of hours of manpower put into this operation, and it spanned multiple states,” said Deputy U.S. Marshal Mike Ulrich to America's Most Wanted.
Prophet is the author of an out-of-print mafia crime novel "Enter The Fire: Seven Days in the Life." He is a former resident of , Fairfield Woods Court in Lorton, according to police. The book, which chronicles the life of a local philanthopist/mafia boss, has been panned by online critics and followers of the trial.
