GAINESVILLE, VA—Two people have been arrested after a 3-year-old boy was inadvertently run over by his father at a work site last month in the 54400 block of Fallen Oaks Lane, according to Prince William County Police. Kenneth Albrecht Toone, 39, and Erin Renee Knox, 29, both of the 5400 block of Lick River Lane, were charged April 17 with one count of felony child abuse.
Shortly after noon on March 15, police began investigating an incident that occurred earlier that day at the aforementioned site. They found that Toone and Knox were operating separate Bobcats and knew the 3-year-old and another child were playing near other parked construction equipment. Shortly thereafter, the 3-year-old was found lying on the ground after the Bobcat being operated by his father accidentally ran over him.
Toone and Knox drove him to a nearby hospital, where he was found to have significant internal injuries. The child then was flown to a local trauma center for further evaluation, and is expected to survive his injuries.
