Cyclists Riding to Manassas to Raise Awareness for Disabilities

A cycling team will be making a stop in Manassas Saturday on its route to raise awareness on behalf of people with disabilities. 

"Journey of Hope, organized by Push America, is a cycling trek that raises funds and awareness on behalf of people with disabilities in hopes to enhance the quality of their lives," read a press release from the team. 

Cyclists will ride into Manassas for the penultimate stop on a nationwide fundraiser. Cyclists from three teams will be cycling a combined 12,000 miles this summer. 

The team will be arriving at the at 8310 Plantation Ln. in Manassas around 3 p.m. after cycling 90 miles from Charlottesville.

2012 South Route team has three Hokies: Dan Rieck of Burke, VA, Gregory Kuhn, Corey Anderson of Virginia Beach. Public Relations Coordinator Cody Shepherd is both a Danville native and Averett University Student.

Push America is the national philanthropy of Pi Kappa Phi Fraternity. Every cyclist commits to raising at least $5,000 on behalf of people with disabilities. Combine their individual efforts with corporate sponsorships and the Journey of Hope team will raise more than $570,000 for people with disabilities.
