Hit-And-Run Arrest Made In Deadly Crash In Gainesville: Police
A man was arrested in the hit-and-run crash last September that killed a 17-year-old boy in Gainesville: Prince William County Police.

GAINESVILLE, VA—A man was arrested Tuesday, May 14, in the hit-and-run crash last September that killed a 17-year-old Maryland boy in the area of Sudley Road near Catharpin Road, according to Prince William County Police. Raymond Alexander Robinson, 34, of the 15900 block of Smithey Drive in Haymarket, was charged with involuntary manslaughter and felony hit and run.
Around 2:30 a.m. on Sept. 22, 2018, police responded to the area for a reported crash involving a pedestrian. They found that the boy, a family member and a co-worker were completing driveway sealant work at a home. Immediately prior to the collision, the boy and his family member were sitting in a parked truck facing the wrong direction on Sudley Road with the headlights on.
There were no road signs or cones in place along the road warning of the obstruction. The car was headed west on Sudley Road, where the speed limit was 50 mph. When it became apparent that the car would hit the truck, the boy and the family member got out of the vehicle.

The family member got out of the road but the boy tried to cross the adjacent eastbound lane just when the car swerved around the truck. That's when the boy was hit. The car stopped briefly stopped before continuing to head west. The boy died at the scene.
Later that month, a tip led investigators to a vehicle possibly involved. It was registered to Robinson and was found with damage consistent with being involved in the crash. After evidence collected from the scene and Robinson's vehicle was processed and analyzed, police obtained warrants for Robinson, who ultimately turned himself in.
