Mother Gave Fussy Infant Meth: Manassas Police

Child abuse charges for Manassas mother, according to police. The 3-month-old victim is expected to survive.

MANASSAS, VA — A three-month-old infant is expected to recover after being found under the influence of meth, according to Manassas Police.

Jessica F. Nicholson, 31, of the 8300 block of Tillett Loop is charged with child abuse, according to a Manassas Police statement released Friday.

On Dec. 3, the infant was admitted to a local hospital in a state of respiratory distress. "Through rapid testing, officers learned the infant was under the influence of the opiate substance methadone," according to police spokesperson Adrienne Helms.

Nicholson is accused of giving the baby the meth in an attempt to calm the infant, according to the police statement.

The victim is expected to recover without any long-term health complications stemming from the incident, Helms said.
