Phony Solicitor Arrested In Manassas: Police

A man was arrested after soliciting money by falsely saying the donations were for a wheelchair basketball league​: Manassas City Police.

MANASSAS, VA—A man was arrested Wednesday, April 10, after soliciting money by falsely saying the donations were for a wheelchair basketball league, according to Manassas City Police. Brian Delay, 42, of Manassas, was charged with eight counts of obtaining goods by false pretenses.

Police say Delay, despite wearing official-looking identification, didn't represent any team or any charity. They released an information bulletin Feb. 5 attempting to find victims of the door-to-door solicitation scam and came up with numerous victims from incidents over the past several years.
