MANASSAS, VA — Election Day is here for voters in Manassas and across Prince William County. This year, voters can cast their ballot in local races for school board, county supervisor, the State Senate, and the House of Delegates.

Voters can also select the county's sheriff and commonwealth's attorney.

Some of Prince William County's biggest races center around the Board of County Supervisors. Every seat was up for election this year, including the at-large chair. Democrat Deshundra Jefferson faces off against current supervisor Jeanine Lawson, a Republican.

Jefferson and Lawson both oppose data centers in many residential areas. Jefferson said the current board has failed residents due to increases in the cost of living.

"Residents cannot continue to shoulder the tax burden while we’re willing to give huge tax breaks to data centers compared to our closest neighboring counties," Jefferson said. "A data center tax rate that puts us in line with neighboring jurisdictions will allow us to rely less on property and meals taxes and invest in public safety, public education, and affordable housing, and intervention programs for our at-risk youth and young adults."
