Student Assaulted By School Bus Attendant In Manassas: Police
A school bus attendant for Prince William County Schools was arrested after assaulting a 12-year-old student three different times: Police.
MANASSAS, VA—A school bus attendant for Prince William County Public Schools was arrested Friday, April 12, after assaulting a 12-year-old student three different times beginning in January 2019, according to Prince William County Police. The bus driver also was arrested after not trying to stop the assaults and failing to notify police.
The attendant, Kelly Marlon Rucker, of the 5000 block of Lambsgate Lane in Woodbridge, was charged with three counts of felony child abuse. The driver, Tamar Denise McNear, 46, of the 5900 block of Cambridge Drive in Fredericksburg, was charged with three counts of felony child endangerment.
Shortly after 2:30 p.m. on April 12, officers in conjunction with Child Protective Services and School Risk Management, began an investigation into the incidents. They found that on more than one occasion this past January, Rucker was seen on in-bus surveillance physically assaulting the boy. They also found that McNear saw the assaults and made no attempt to help the boy or report the incidents to police or school authorities.

Following the investigation and after consultation with the Commonwealth Attorney's Office, Rucker and McNear were arrested. Police didn't release the name of the school the boy attends.
