Here are the top five stories today in Manassas Park:
- A Manassas father was arrested after his 7-year-old son shot himself in the hand. Erik Christopher Brown, 35 years old, is now facing felony child neglect charges after his son accidentally shot himself in the hand with a gun inside their home in the 11100 block of Stagestone Way on Sunday. Thankfully, the child was not seriously injured. The father took his son to the hospital after the incident and was later arrested. (FOX 5 DC)
- The Flagship Carwash on Sudley Manor Drive near Manassas hosted an exciting grand opening on Saturday, Mar. 4. Attendees were able to enjoy food trucks from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and some new members received half-off discounts on their first month's membership fees. This location was just one of the many Flagship plans to build to double its footprint over the next 24 months. (PotomacLocal.com)
- Prince William County received funding for the youth component of the Crisis Receiving Center (CRC). The Prince William Board of County Supervisors allocated $2.1 million in ongoing funding toward the youth component of CRC during its meeting on Feb. 28. The funding will cover some recliners and beds for youth, serving the 14- to 18-year-olds in Greater Prince William and Region 2 areas who may be amid a mental crisis. (Press Release Desk
- A wanted man was arrested for several charges in Prince William County, including throwing a cat out of an apartment window. Officers took Tyler Alexander Sadoff, 20, into custody on Monday, Feb. 27, for an incident that had happened earlier in the week. He is facing charges that include: felony animal cruelty, felony destruction of property, preventing the summoning of law enforcement, domestic assault and battery, and assault and battery. - The metal scanners at Osbourn High School will activate on Monday, Mar. 6. Manassas City Public Schools is the first division in the region to activate metal detectors in schools. Osbourn High School will have Evolv Express Lane scanners installed. The school chose these scanners because they're designed to allow larger groups to pass while still scanning for weapons.
