Prince William Family Medicine Location Return To Independent Ownership
Numerous physician-led primary care locations in Northern Virginia are returning to independent ownership.
MANASSAS, VA — Nine physician-led primary care locations are transitioning to independent ownership, including a Manassas location.
Fairfax Family Practice Centers, a group of Northern Virginia health care providers, announced nine primary care practices will reclaim independent, provider-led ownership. The group says the transition creates autonomy for practices to serve their patients and increases responsiveness to the needs of each community.
Many of the practices were founded by physicians that still continue to serve today. Among the locations returning to independent owners are Prince William Family Medicine – Manassas, Broadlands Family Practice in Ashburn and Brambleton, Family Medicine of Clifton/Centreville, Herndon Family Medicine, Lorton Station Family Medicine, Stone Springs Family Medicine in Dulles, Town Center Family Medicine in Reston and Vienna Family Medicine.

"This transition is about putting patients first – listening to their needs and focusing on quality and respect," said Dr. Mike Rodriguez, physician and co-founder of Broadlands Family Practice – Brambleton. "Independence gives us the ability to grow in ways that best serve our communities, while remaining steadfastly committed to the relationships and trust we’ve built over decades."
As part of the transition, the primary care centers have established agreements with most major health insurance providers, including Aetna, Anthem, CareFirst, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Sentara, Medicare and Tricare/Humana Military. Some insurance providers may temporarily list Fairfax Family Practice Centers as out of network or show delayed effective dates. Patients are encouraged to check the Fairfax Family Practice Centers' insurance web page for updated information and direct questions to their primary care practice.

The primary care provider group says patients will keep access to the same providers, locations, services and the MyChart portal for records and scheduling.
Fairfax Family Practice Centers said the transition to independent ownership was through a partnership with Northern Virginia-based Trustar Bank.
"This collaboration was about more than financing—it was about sustaining the fabric of Northern Virginia’s healthcare system," said Shaza Andersen, CEO of Trustar Bank. "These physicians and practices have been pillars in their communities for decades. Supporting their return to independent ownership means enabling more customized care and healthcare that reflects the needs of the people who live here."
