Police: Online Meeting Led to Affair Between Man, 68, and Juvenile Girl

Manassas Park resident solicited teenager multiple times, says Loudoun County Sheriff's Office.

A 68-year-old Manassas Park man is facing criminal charges in Loudoun County for having an inappropriate relationship with a 17-year-old girl whom he met online.

An investigation conducted by the Sex Crimes Unit of the Loudoun County Sheriff’s Office determined that Denard D. Springle III had solicited the teenager on multiple occasions, the sheriff’s office said.

Springle was initially charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor. On Monday, he was charged with four counts of use of a communications system to facilitate certain offenses involving children, the sheriff’s office said.

Springle was released Wednesday from the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center in Leesburg on a $20,000 secured bond. Further details about the case were not being released to help protect the identity of the victim, the sheriff’s office said.

The investigation began on May 28, after a Loudoun sheriff’s deputy saw a vehicle parked in a commercial parking lot at around 9:15 p.m. in the 45000 block of Woodland Road in Sterling, according to a police report.
