The project was completed in late 2020 and with this segment completed, there is now a safe, continuous pedestrian facility between Route 1, the Potomac Library, and Sentara Hospital and Stonebridge, allowing thousands of residents to access community services, health care, employment, and retail by walking. The Opitz Boulevard Sidewalk Project was funded with over $1 million in federal funding, obtained through a competitive Transportation Alternatives Program grant administered by the Commonwealth which includes a local match from the Woodbridge District.
