Connolly Endorses Bierman For Open Dranesville Supervisor's Seat

A large contingent of Fairfax County Democrats turned out for Jimmy Bierman's campaign kickoff event in the Dranesville supervisor's race.

MCLEAN, VA — More than 100 peoples showed up Saturday for Jimmy Bierman's campaign kick-off event at the McLean Community Center, according to a campaign release.

Bierman announced in December that he was running to represent the Dranesville District on the Fairfax County Board of Supervisors. He is hoping to fill the seat vacated by Supervisor John Foust, who told his fellow supervisors back in August that he would not be running in 2023.

During Saturday's event, U.S. Rep. Gerry Connolly (D-11th) officially endorsed Bierman, according to the release.

An array of local Democrats came out Saturday to show their support for Bierman, including Foust; School Board members Elaine Tholden (Dranesville) and Stella Pekarsky (Sully); Dels. Kathleen Murphy (D-34th), Rip Sullivan (D-48th), Irene Shin (D-86th), Marcus Simon (D-53rd), and Holly Seibold (D-35th); Commonwealth's Attorney Steve Descano (D); Sully School Board member Stella Pekarsky; Franconia District Supervisor Rodney Lusk; former Del. Margi Vanderhye, and Herndon Town Council Members Keven LeBlanc, Cesar del Aguila, and Naila Alam.

No other candidate from either political party has announced their intention to run for the open supervisors' seat in the Dranesville District, according to the release.

Voters will be heading to the polls on Tuesday, Nov. 7, to choose candidates running for the Virginia House of Delegates, the Virginia Senate, the Commonwealth's Attorney, Clerk of the Fairfax Circuit Court, Fairfax County Sheriff, Chairman of Fairfax County Board of Supervisors, District Members of the Board of Supervisors, At-Large Members of the Fairfax County School Board, District Members of the School board, and Directors (vote for 3) of the Northern Virginia Soil and Water Conservation District.

Early voting for the June 20 Democratic Party primary begins on May 6. Voters must register by May 29 to be eligible to vote in the June 20 primary. The deadline for requesting an absentee ballot for the Democratic primary is June 9.
