Motorcycle Crash Shuts Down GW Parkway Saturday: Police
Crash impacted traffic heading in both directions Saturday on the George Washington Parkway, according to police.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- A motorcyclist is in stable but serious condition Saturday night after a crash Saturday that shut down the George Washington Parkway Saturday, according to U.S. Park Police.
Northbound and southbound traffic was at a standstill for hours due to the crash on the George Washington Parkway between Route 123 and Spout Run Parkway.
US Park Police, at 11:32, said: "we are working to get those of you stuck on the GW out safely. Please be patient and follow police direction."

US Park Police posted two messages on Twitter earlier, at 11 a.m.:
- "GW PKwY Closed southbound south of 123 AND northbound north of spout run. Motorcycle crash resulting in injuries. Seek alternate"
- "motorcycle operator has serious injuries. One other driver transported with minor injuries. Road closed for investigation."
Police estimated the Parkway would be shut down for several hours. Police sent out their first alert just before 11 a.m.
