Del. Kathleen Murphy Recognized for Commitment to the Environment

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- The Sierra Club Virginia Chapter recognized Del. Kathleen Murphy Thursday with a 100 percent rating for her 2016 voting record. Murphy, who represents the 34th District, which includes McLean, is one of 24 delegates to have scored a perfect rating.

The annual Virginia General Assembly Climate and Energy Scorecard grades the Commonwealth’s state-level elected officials on their votes during the 2016 General Assembly Session on legislation that will have a direct impact on Virginia’s energy policy and strategy to fight climate change.

“As a member of the Virginia Environment and Renewable Energy Caucus, I have been proud to fight for our environment,” Murphy said in a news release about the recognition. “I have maintained a perfect legislative rating on environmental issues during my time in the House of Delegates and I will continue to vote to protect our natural resources and promote clean energy in Virginia in the coming legislative session.”
