Fairfax County Dual Primary Election: Early Voting Starts Friday
Early voting begins May 3 for Fairfax County's Democratic and Republican primaries, which are scheduled for June 18.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA — Early voting begins on Friday in Fairfax County's Dual Primary Election, with two separate ballots for Democratic and Republican candidates.
The Democratic primary election on June 18, 2024 will include races in both the 10th and 11th Congressional Districts.
In the 10th Congressional race, 12 Democrats are running to fill the seat being vacated by U.S. Rep. Jennifer Weston (D). They are: Jennifer Boysko, Marion Devoe Sr., Eileen Filler-Corn, Dan Helmer, Krystle Kaul, Mark Leighton, Michelle Maldonado, Travis Nembhard, Adrian Pokharel, Atif Qarni, David Reid, and Suhas Subramanyam.

Four candidates are on the Republican primary ballot in the 10th District —Manga Anantatmula, Aliscia Andrews, Mike Clancy, and Alex Isaac.
In the 11th Congressional race, incumbent Gerry Connolly is being challenged by fellow Democrat Ahsan Nasir. Mike Van Meter is the only Republican running in the 11th District race, so he will be his party's candidate in November.

There is also a Republican primary for U.S. Senate to determine a candidate who will challenge Sen. Tim Kaine (D) in November. The Republican primary for U.S. Senate includes candidates Hung Cao, Eddie Garcia, Jonathan Emord, Chuck Smith and Scott Parkinson.

How to Vote Early and on Election Day
Early in-person voting begins Friday, May 3 and continues through Saturday, June 15. Mail-in ballots will also start to be sent on May 3 to voters who requested one.
Early voting will begin Friday, May 3 at the following locations.
- Fairfax County Government Center, 12000 Government Center Parkway in Fairfax, Conference Rooms 2/3, May 3 – June 15, Weekdays: 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. Saturdays: (June 8 and June 15): 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Closed May 27 (Memorial Day).
- Mount Vernon Governmental Center, 2511 Parkers Lane in Alexandria, May 3 – June 15, Weekdays: 1 p.m. – 7 p.m. Saturdays: (June 8 and June 15): 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Closed May 27 (Memorial Day).
- North County Governmental Center, 1801 Cameron Glen Drive in Reston, May 3 – June 15 Weekdays: 1 p.m. – 7 p.m. Saturdays: (June 8 and June 15): 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. Closed May 27 (Memorial Day).
Thirteen more locations will be open for early voting from June 8 - June 15 for early voting. Voters can cast ballots weekdays from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m. and Saturdays, 9 a.m. - 5 p.m

Registered voters may request a mail-in ballot by 5 p.m. on Friday, June 7 through the Virginia Department of Elections citizens portal. Mail Ballots returned by mail must be postmarked on or before June 18, 2024 and received by 12 p.m., June 21, 2024.
Voters should follow the mail-in ballot instructions to return completed ballots. There is a choice to return by mail, a secure drop box with video surveillance outside the Office of Voter Registration & Elections, or at any polling place during voting hours. Mail-in ballots should be returned by 7 p.m. on June 18 or postmarked by June 18.
The deadline for voter registration is May 28. The easiest way to register to vote or check your registration status is visiting the Virginia Department of Elections citizens portal. After the voter registration deadline, same-day registration is available to let voters cast a provisional ballot at any Fairfax County early voting location for the June 18, 2024 for the Democratic and Republican Primaries. Voters who will be 18 by the next general election on Nov. 5, 2024 can register to vote in the primary.
If you're voting on Election Day, visit your assigned polling place during voting hours from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. Check your polling place using the Virginia Department of Elections citizens portal.
An acceptable form of ID is required to vote in person.
After polls close at 7 p.m. on June 18, preliminary election results will be tallied on the Virginia Department of Elections website.
