• McLean Teen's Music​ Lessons Help Fund Legal Aid Work In India (patch.com) — A McLean high school senior is turning her Carnatic music lessons and performances at local farmers markets into more than $16,000 in funding for legal aid in rural India. Through her online platform Nyaya Setu, she connects low-income clients with affordable or pro bono lawyers, while continuing her studies at BASIS Independent McLean and planning to expand the project’s reach.
   

• Mortgage Rates Drop Slightly (cutoday.info) — McLean-based Freddie Mac reports that average 30-year mortgage rates have edged down to 6.21%, slightly below last week and half a percent lower than a year ago. That drop has helped push purchase applications about 10% higher than this time last year, potentially improving buying power for McLean-area home shoppers and sellers.
   

• Vienna Youth Cheerleading Places In First Competition In 10 Years (patch.com) — Families in McLean with young cheerleaders may be interested that Vienna Youth Inc. Cheerleading, which draws participants from McLean and other nearby towns, just returned to competition for the first time in over a decade and placed well. The fall program, serving kindergarten through eighth grade, will again offer both sideline and competitive cheer in 2026, with low-cost registration and financial aid available.
