Groundswell Receives Commuter Connections Award For Telework Program
McLean-based IT company Groundswell turned to telework as a way to improve the work-life balance of its employees.

McLEAN, VA — Groundswell, a McLean-based technology company, received the Telework Award Wednesday, during Commuter Connections’ 50th anniversary celebration at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.
"The business grew significantly, acquiring three companies within a short period of time," according to a Commuter Connections release. "The company’s telework program was created to support both business and work-life balance needs of its rapidly growing employee base."
The National Capital Region Transportation Planning Board at the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments coordinates Commuter Connections, which offers free programs to encourage commuters to adopt more energy-efficient and environmentally friendly modes of transportation.

In addition, Commuter Connections assists businesses with telework and organizes major events. In partnership with the Washington Area Bicyclist Association, the program annually hosts Bike to Work Day, which has grown from 1,100 registrants in 2001 to 14,000 in 2024.

Mayor Muriel Bowser, the keynote speech at the event. “We know that Washington, DC is a world-class city, and world-class cities have world-class transportation options. Together, we will continue to expand our transportation network, protect the environment, and grow our economy.”
