GW Parkway Closures, Detour Ahead Of Rush Hour Traffic Pattern Shift

Southbound lanes on the George Washington Memorial Parkway will be closed starting Friday night in advance of a traffic pattern shift.

MCLEAN, VA — Virginia Department of Transportation crews will be temporarily closing both southbound lanes of the George Washington Memorial Parkway, beginning at 10 p.m, on Friday, March 7 and ending at 7 p.m. on Sunday, March 9.

All traffic traveling southbound on the parkway will be diverted via Route 123 and Glebe Road to re-enter the Spout Run Parkway, according to VDOT.

This weekend’s closure will allow for barrier and work zone relocation, as part of the upcoming traffic shift phase of the North Parkway Rehabilitation Project.
