Honor Vietnam Vets at McLean’s VFW Post 8241 This Saturday

This Saturday, April 12, 2025, VFW Post 8241 in McLean, VA will host a commemorative event honoring the 50th anniversary of the end of the Vietnam War. The event, open to the public, begins at 4:00 PM at 1051 Spring Hill Road and features live music, community gathering, and historical reflection.

The highlight of the evening will be a performance by Gus Alzona’s Trademark Band, playing timeless hits from the Vietnam War era from 7:00 to 10:00 PM. The event will offer a cash bar and food available for purchase. Admission is free.

The Vietnam War officially ended on April 30, 1975. For many, the date marks not only the conclusion of a divisive and painful conflict but also the beginning of a long and often difficult journey home for millions of American veterans. This year, on its 50th anniversary, VFW Post 8241 is proud to honor the legacy, sacrifice, and service of those who served.

“This is a chance to recognize and reconnect,” said Post Commander Jim Chastain. “We’re inviting the entire community to join us—not just veterans. If you know someone who served, bring them along. If you're too young to remember the war, come listen to the music and hear the stories. This is about honoring service, healing wounds, and building community.”

The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW) is a nonprofit veterans service organization committed to supporting those who have served in overseas conflicts. VFW Post 8241 remains active in the McLean community, offering outreach, support, and a place of connection for veterans of all generations.
