MCC Board Candidates To Introduce Themselves At Association Meeting

MCLEAN, VA — The McLean Citizens Association is hosting a meeting on May 3 where the public is invited to hear from the candidates running for the adult positions on the McLean Community Center’s governing board.

Five candidates have been certified for this year’s election to fill three MCC governing board adult positions. The candidates have been invited to introduce themselves at the beginning of the May 3 MCA board meeting. The meeting starts at 7 p.m.

“The McLean Community Center is a vital part of the greater McLean area and its facilities and programs are an important resource for greater McLean area residents,” MCA President Scott Spitzer said in a statement Monday. “We invite the public to join us in hearing from the candidates.”

The in-person portion of the May 3 meeting will be only for members of the MCA board. The MCC governing board candidates are expected to appear via Zoom at the beginning of the MCA meeting. The meeting will be streamed live to the public on the MCA’s Facebook page.

The five candidates running for the adult positions on the MCC governing board are Gloria Marrero Chambers, Matt Colsia, Katie Gorka, Kathleen Cooney Porter and Lincom aka Amirthalingam Thillaichidambaram.

Voting for the governing board members will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, May 20, at the McLean Day 2023 festival at Lewinsville Park.

Residents also may vote during absentee voting from Wednesday, March 15, through Wednesday, May 17. A resident may request a ballot package online, by phone at 703-744-9348, or by email at elections@mcleancenter.org. Residents also may pick up the ballot package at 1234 Ingleside Ave.

Six candidates are running for the youth position representing the McLean High School boundary area, and four candidates are running for the youth position representing the Langley High School boundary area. The youth candidates will not be introducing themselves at the May 3 meeting.

The adult members of the MCC governing board serve three-year terms, while the youth members serve one-year terms.
