We had quite a great game going against a very strong Florida team this afternoon. We were down just 4 - 3 in the bottom of the 4th and we were the home team.

Lucy Mulligan was pitching an artful game and we were keeping one step ahead of the alligators - so to speak. The Florida team has a line-up chock full of strong power hitters. We had some nice outfield catches by Grace Chambers (2) Samantha Stacey (2) and Annie Ferguson three nice put outs by Allie Clarke and a very nice play by Zoe Dobson on a sharply hit ball down the third base line. The Florida team was hitting the ball hard and we were making enough plays to stay close.
We scored two runs in the 2nd inning on singles by Anna Harris, Lucy Mulligan and Victoria Bergeron, sandwiched around a walk to Zoe Dobson. We scored our run in the third inning on a triple by Bella Norton - who scored on a fielder's choice to Sabrina Sanchez.
We failed to score in the bottom of the 4th and in the 5th inning the Florida team strung together a series of hits and we failed to throw out a few runners that would have limited the damage. A pair of triples with runners on base and a couple of walks - added up to an 8 run inning.
Kaylee Simon came on the pitch the last inning and gave up one run. We had base runners on in both the 5th and 6th inning but failed to score.
The final result was 13 - 3 but we proved that we could play with this powerful Florida team. A few more plays and a few more hits would have made a big difference.
A victory over West Virginia Saturday would put us into the semi-finals. It should be a good one.
