McLean Marching Band Wins Grand Champion Award for 2016 Show
McLean Highlander Marching Band's 2016 show "Story of my Life" wins top five awards at 31st Annual Oakton Classic Marching Invitational.
FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- McLean Highlander Marching Band’s 2016 show titled “Story of my Life” won the top five awards at the 31st Annual Oakton Classic Marching Invitational. The McLean band won 1st place in Class 5A, the category for the largest bands and also swept the contest by winning Best Music, Best Visual Performance, Best Percussion and Grand Champions – Cougar Award.
"Story of My Life" is an exploration of love over the course of one’s life. The story depicts different kinds of love including Love for a Parent, Love for a Significant Other and Love for a Child. The music in this show includes selections by The Piano Guys, Frank Ticheli, The Cinematic Orchestra, John Adams, Ludwig Van Beethoven, and music from the movie Love, Actually.
The McLean Highlander Marching Band is under the field direction of Drum Majors Will Glembocki, Alonso Flores-Saez, and Nour Khachemoune.
