McLean Native Opening South Block Smoothie And Juice Shop In Chesterbrook Shopping Center
South Block, an acai bowl, smoothie and juice shop, will be opening a new location on Monday in the Chesterbrook Shopping Center in McLean.

MCLEAN, VA — South Block, an acai bowl, smoothie and juice shop, will be opening a new location on Monday, March 6 in the Chesterbrook Shopping Center in McLean.
The new location on Old Dominion Drive will be South Block’s 15th store in the Washington, D.C., area. South Block already has eight locations in Virginia, five in D.C. and one in Bethesda.
Customers will be able to order using the South Block app and online ordering site, or in-person at the McLean location. South Block also delivers through UberEats and DoorDash.

Amir Mostafavi, CEO and founder of South Block, grew up in McLean, where is parents owned and operated Box Office Video in the Langley Shopping Center for more than 20 years.
Soon after graduating from Virginia Tech, Mostafavi opened his first juice bar in 2006 on the campus at George Washington University called Campus Fresh. Five years later, he opened the first South Block store in the Clarendon neighborhood of Arlington, selling smoothies, bowls and juice.

“It was not an immediate success,” South Block’s website says. “Amir and his team worked hard to make connections and get to know their community by supporting other local businesses, schools and by giving back. They believed that small acts over time could make a big impact!”
Word spread and soon there were lines out the door. It was then that Mostafavi knew that he had to take South Block to other communities, according to the website.
Chesterbrook Shopping Center is located at 6224 Old Dominion Drive in McLean. South Block will be open from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday.
