Orange Line Delays This Weekend Between East & West Falls Church Stations

Single-Tracking for Subway Construction

Metro's Orange Line trains will be single tracking between the East Falls Church and West Falls Church Metrorail stations throughout the weekend of May 7 because of Silver Line construction. Metrorail service will not be disrupted.

This work is related to the future tie-in of the extension to the existing Orange Line. Work will be taking place around the clock. Tie-in work requires several crews to work concurrently within a short window of time.

Single tracking will begin at 8 p.m. Friday, and construction crews are scheduled to start at 10 p.m. They will work around the clock until 1 a.m. Monday, with full service to be restored by 4 a.m. Monday.

Nearby residents were notified last week that the may can hear increased construction noise during this weekend, especially during daytime hours. Every effort will be made to minimize noise between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m.

All work is weather dependent and subject to change.  An additional single-track outage is scheduled for the weekend of May 14-15. In case of inclement weather during these scheduled outages, crew will work the weekend of May 21-22.
