Police Take Dog Into Protective Custody Friday in Tysons Area

A busted water pipe needed fixing, but the dog was in the bathroom and the owner wasn't home. Who to call? Animal Protection Police.

McLEAN, VA -- A dog was taken into protective custody by Fairfax County Animal Protection Police Friday morning when property managers couldn't get into a Tysons area apartment bathroom for a burst water pipe, FCPD reported.

The incident took place at about 8:40 a.m. in the 1900 block of Wilson Lane (see map below), where Animal Protection Police (APP) were called to an apartment for a report of a dog restrained inside a bathroom.

Members of the apartment's property management had entered the apartment to fix a burst water pipe, and found the dog, but due to what FCPD called the dog's aggressive behavior, could not move it, FCPD said.

The owner could not respond to pick up the dog, so APP officers took it into protective custody, police said. Once on a leash, the dog’s aggressive behavior ceased. The investigation is ongoing.
