Ramp To Close Overnight From I-495 To George Washington Parkway

The ramp from southbound I-495 to eastbound George Washington Parkway will be closed from 11 p.m. Tuesday to 4 a.m. Wednesday, VDOT said.

MCLEAN, VA — The ramp from southbound Interstate 495 to eastbound George Washington Memorial Parkway will be closed from 11 p.m. on Tuesday to 4 a.m. on Wednesday, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

A detour will be in place for drivers who need to head east on the George Washington Memorial Parkway.

The closure will occur as crews conduct maintenance work on a stormwater management drain. Drivers should use caution when traveling through this area, VDOT said. The schedule for the ramp closure Tuesday night could change based on weather conditions and contractor scheduling.

This work is part of the I-495 Express Lanes Northern project to extend the existing 495 Express Lanes from the Dulles Corridor interchange to the George Washington Memorial Parkway near the American Legion Bridge.

Drivers planning to head east on the George Washington Memorial Park should continue south on I-495 and take Exit 44 for Georgetown Pike. At the first Georgetown Pike traffic light, turn left and continue on the bridge over the Beltway and then turn left at the second traffic light to take the ramp for northbound I-495. Drivers should then continue north on I-495 to Exit 43 for the George Washington Memorial Parkway.
