Security Tech Company To Bring 201 Jobs To New Headquarters In Tysons

Pangiam, a travel and security industries tech company, has agreed to invest $3.1 million to establish its global headquarters in Tysons.

TYSONS, VA — Pangiam, a travel and security industries technology company, has agreed to invest $3.1 million to establish its global headquarters in the Tysons area, Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin announced Thursday.

The company provides facial recognition technology, cloud-based applications, and data-driven digital identity products for the transportation and security sectors.

The expansion at 7950 Jones Branch Drive in McLean will include the addition of 20,000 square feet. The project will create 201 new jobs at Pangiam over the next three years.

Pangiam Chief Investment Officer Tom Plofchan said the company chose the Tysons area as its headquarters because Northern Virginia has become a hub for technology companies. The proximity to the federal government provides an opportunity to access partners and resources for a critical part of our business, he said.

Also, members of Pangiam’s leadership team are either from Virginia or built their careers in the area, “so it was only right to build and try to contribute to the local community when we started Pangiam,” Plofchan explained.

The Virginia Economic Development Partnership worked with the Fairfax County Economic Development Authority to secure the project and will support Pangiam’s job creation through the Virginia Jobs Investment Program, which provides consultative services and funding to companies creating new jobs in order to support employee recruitment and training activities.

Pangiam’s decision to establish its headquarters in the Tysons area “reinforces Northern Virginia’s reputation as an epicenter with the security industry,” Youngkin said in a statement.

The company will benefit from Fairfax County’s proximity to its target customers and a tech workforce that makes this region “one of the most desirable locations for IT businesses worldwide,” he said.

“With safety always at the forefront of everyone’s minds, Fairfax County is pleased to have Pangiam’s headquarters in Fairfax County, the heart of America’s national security infrastructure,” Fairfax County Board of Supervisors Chairman Jeffrey McKay said in a statement.

Pangiam was founded by a team of senior customs and security professionals with decades of collective experience in the security and aviation sectors. The company’s computer vision and facial recognition technologies use artificial intelligence and machine learning to improve threat detection and response, facilitating the safe, secure, and expedited movement of people and goods around the world.

The company’s notable customers include DHS, the U.S. Air Force, Delta Air Lines, United Airlines and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.
