Southbound Lanes On GW Parkway Closed Next 2 Weekends

Southbound traffic on the George Washington Parkway will be diverted onto Route 123 in McLean while roadwork is done the next two weekends.

MCLEAN, VA — The southbound lanes of George Washington Memorial Parkway will be closed the next two weekends between Route 123 in McLean and Spout Run Parkway in Arlington, according to the National Park Service.

To allow crews time to complete drainage work along the parkway, both southbound lanes will be closed and drivers detoured between the following times:

  • First closure: From 7 a.m., on Saturday, Feb. 22, through 6 p.m., on Sunday, Feb. 23
  • Second closure: From 7 a.m., on Saturday, March 1, through 6 p.m., on Sunday, March 2

“All southbound GWMP traffic must use the southbound GWMP ramp to northbound Route 123 and follow detour signs to Spout Run parkway to re-enter southbound GWMP toward Washington, D.C. One northbound lane on GWMP will stay open,” according to NPS.
