Star Student Athletes: McLean Twins Make Positive Impact On Community

MCLEAN, VA — We all know student athletes who also bring their A-game to other parts of their lives.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. We’re working to let all your neighbors know the individual stories behind the leaderboard.

This submission comes from Emily & Les, who nominated Addison & Jaidyn (identical twins) of McLean. The twins are star athletes as well as active members of the National Charity League, a multi-generational philanthropic organization.

Why do you believe the star student athlete should be recognized?

Addison and Jaidyn Buday strive to be their best selves in all they do. They are incredibly hardworking, self-driven, and kind-hearted people. Addison and Jaidyn are both straight-A students, excelling in all studies, and are both members of the National Junior Honor Society (NJHS). Both girls play for Virginia Union’s 2008 ECNL soccer team in McLean. The Elite Clubs National League (ECNL) is a highly competitive national soccer league committed to excellence.

While both girls have played a number of additional sports to date, Addison currently also plays field hockey, while Jaidyn plays basketball and is on a summer dive team. In their free time, both girls are volunteer soccer coaches for McLean Youth Soccer, and currently coach with the U6/U7 age group, while previously coaching U4/U5 players.

Addison and Jaidyn are active members of the National Charity League (NCL), a multi-generational philanthropic organization that embraces philanthropy, leadership and culture. Through NCL, Addison and Jaidyn volunteer with a number of organizations, including Special Olympics, Operation Gratitude, Katherine Hanley Shelter, Habitat for Humanity, Capital Region Honor Flight, Women Giving Back, Fairfax Nursing Center, American Heart Association, Alzheimer’s Association, Wolf Trap Foundation, and more. Both girls value their time giving back through these organizations. Addison and Jaidyn are well-rounded student-athletes, making a positive impact within their community.

What's one thing you want everyone to know about the star student athlete?

Addison and Jaidyn are focused to be the best they can be, while making a positive impact in their community. They are thoughtful, kind, and caring individuals. They enjoy “paying it forward” and the ability to coach and empower younger female soccer players.
