State Fair Closing Early Thursday, Will Not Reopen in 2015
The Fair is taking precautionary measures with severe weather in the forecast, and is offering ticket trade-ins for next year's State Fair.

In advance of heavy rain and the possible landing of Hurricane Joaquin, the State Fair of Virginia announced Thursday on its Facebook page it will close early at 7 p.m. Thursday evening and will not reopen again in 2015.
“Safety is the fair’s No. 1 priority for our customers, vendors, exhibitors and workers,” read the Facebook post. “State Fair staff feel it is important to respect the Governor’s state of emergency declaration, and realize that law enforcement and emergency medical service personnel may be needed elsewhere during this impending storm.”

Patrons who purchased unused single-day tickets or season passes will have the opportunity to exchange them for a single-day admission ticket to the 2016 fair, which will run from Sept. 30 through Oct. 9. Wristband vouchers can also be exchanged for new wristband vouchers for next year’s fair.
To receive tickets or vouchers for next year’s fair, you must mail your name, address, telephone number and email address as well as your unused tickets, passes and/or vouchers from this year’s fair to:
