The McLean Ear: Local Performers in Concert Tonight; McLean Neighbors in the New York Times
We Hear to Tell

Sisters Nerissa & Katryna Nields who grew up in McLean and whose parents and grandparents remain McLean residents bring their band to the Barns at Wolf Trap tonight for one performance.
Earlier this month they released The Full Catastrophe, their sixteenth album in two decades of work. The album is chock-full of songs about parenting and relationships, according to their announcement.
McLean Neighbors in the News: We opened the Friday New York Times to find the editorial page lambasting neighbor Robert Bork, the former solicitor general and defeated Superior Court nominee. GOP presidential candidate Mitt Romney has named him chairman of his Justice Advisory Committee.
The Times called Bork "among the most divisive figures in American law and a right-wing standard-bearer. . . "

The editorial concluded:"Whether Mr. Romney picked Mr. Bork for his legal views, to arouse the right wing or both, the choice is disturbing."
In Sunday's New York Times, McLean travel agent Beth Jenkins was one of six travel agents from across the country spotlighted in a story about the return of travel agents. She works for McCabe World Travel.

Ann Romney celebrates birthday in McLean: Ann Romney celebrated her 63rd birthday (Apil 16) collecting campaign dollars in McLean, Del. Barbara Comstock tweeted.
Mrs. Romney was hosted by Marlene and Fred Malek, GOP fundraisers extraordinaire, and Catherine Reynolds, philanthropist. The event was for women-only, The Washington Post reported.
McLean Community Center Volunteers Honored: Joann Berkson and Dick La Porte won the 2011 H. Gordon Randall Outstanding Volunteer awards for their volunteer contributions to MCC programs.
Joann Berkson has served four years as the president of the Friends of the McLean Community Center. The Friends cosponsored the Center’s McLean Uncorked Food & Wine Festival, Oktoberfest dinners and the Dancing under the Stars and Rockin’ into Spring community dances.
Richard La Porte has been a loyal usher for the Alden Theatre for many years. So great is his commitment to his job that he actually purchased his own flashlight, which he uses to guide patrons to their seats. He has even purchased flashlights for the Alden.
