U.S. Sen. Tim Kaine, D-Va., was the safe pick for Hillary Clinton's vice presidential running mate in November. Part of that safety is Kaine's low profile on the national stage. That has just changed — dramatically.

Kaine hails from an important toss-up state and offers his Spanish-speaking skills that would likely be a big asset in appealing to Hispanic voters on the campaign trail. Kaine made history in 2013 when he delivered a speech on immigration in Spanish on the floor of the U.S. Senate.

Heat Wave: Risking Illness Outdoors Saturday, Forecasters Warn

A heat advisory will be in effect from noon until 8 p.m. for most of the Patch communities across Washington, D.C., Northern Virginia, and Maryland.

Multiple Bear Sightings in Ashburn

Have you seen the Ashburn bear(s)? A black bear has been sighted roaming in the area of Ashburn Road near the Ashburn Volunteer Fire Rescue Department fire station.

The photos were taken in the fire station parking lot on Monday, July 18. A bear was seen the same day across the street sleeping in a tree behind the shopping center.>>> Read more.
