Road Reopens After Police Nab Shoplifters From Tysons
Fairfax County Police were pursuing three shoplifting suspects Tuesday in the Tysons area. The car chase ended in Arlington County.

McLEAN, VA — A 2-mile traffic backup was reported Tuesday afternoon due to a police chase on Interstate 395 north near the Glebe Road exit, according to Arlington County Police and Fairfax County Police. The road reopened shortly after 2 p.m.

Fairfax County Police report that they pursued three shoplifters from Tysons Corner Tuesday morning in a chase that entered into Arlington County and onto I-395 northbound.

At 1:39 p.m., Arlington County Police sent out an alert about a severe traffic disruption, saying that there was police and fire activity on northbound I-395 at the Glebe Road exit, and said that traffic was backed up for about 2 miles. A spokeswoman with Arlington County Police confirmed that the traffic disruption was due to the chase and capture of the suspects in the shoplifting case.
The situation began around 11:40 a.m. Tuesday, when the Fairfax County Police Tysons Urban Team team was investigating a larceny case at a department store in Tysons Corner Center, 1961 Chain Bridge Road. The suspects fled in a car, according to FCPD. Officers located it nearby and attempted a traffic stop, but the driver failed to stop and police pursued the car.

The pursuit ended along I-395, and initial information determined three people were taken into custody, according to FCPD.
