Partial Beltway (Route 495) Closures
Three left lanes of southbound I-495 at the Route 123 intersection will close overnight tonight, Monday, July 18, because of construction of rail bridges above the busy interstate.
Brief, 15-minute maximum full closures of I-495 may be necessary for equipment movements. The entrance ramp from southbound Route 123 to southbound I-495 will remain open.
Work zones will begin just before Route 7 for northbound traffic, and at Old Dominion Drive for southbound traffic.
Multiple lane closures on both northbound and southbound I-495 at Route 123 are set to continue to Friday, July 22, from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Bridge Construction to Begin over Westpark Drive/Gosnell Road at Leesburg Pike (Route 7) Sunday, July 17; Multiple Overnight Closures and Detours Required
Drivers using Route 7 and Gosnell Road/Westpark Drive in Tysons Corner can expect overnight intersection closings for at least the next six weeks, beginning Sunday, July 17, because of Dulles Metrorail Construction.
That's when cranes will begin constructing the bridge spans over the Westpark Drive/Gosnell Road intersection. This will require closing part of the intersection overnights.
Thru traffic along east and west bound Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) in both directions of Leesburg Pike (Route 7) will be allowed, but left turns on to Westpark or Gosnell will not be permitted. Thru traffic on Westpark/Gosnell will be prohibited, and will be detoured by using Route 7 as follows:
· Southbound Westpark Drive thru traffic can turn right on westbound Leesburg Pike, to a U-turn at Spring Hill Road to Route 7 east to turn right on Gosnell Road.
· Northbound Gosnell Road thru traffic can turn right on eastbound Leesburg Pike, pass under Route 123, turn left on International Drive, left on Chain Bridge Road (Route 123), then take the exit ramp to Route 7 to turn right on Westpark Drive.
Weather permitting, these closures will be in place from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sundays through Fridays for approximately the next four to six weeks.
Eastbound Dulles Airport Access Road to Close Overnight Thursday and Friday nights
The closing is necessary because rail construction crews will be working on a large concrete structure that will straddle two piers on each side of the eastbound Access Road. The exit to Route 7 (Leesburg Pike) will remain open.
This Access Road road closure will be implemented as follows. All times are approximate:
· 7 p.m. - The left lane of the westbound Access Road will close near Route 7.
· 7:30 p.m. - The right lane of the eastbound Access Road also will close near Route 7.
· 8 p.m. - All eastbound Access Road traffic will be diverted on to a single westbound lane, which will remain open to accommodate diverted Toll Road traffic (see listing below). At this time, westbound Access Road will be two-way traffic.
· Closures will be picked up in reverse order, to be completed at 5 a.m. the following mornings.

On Thursday, July 21 and Friday, July 22, closures on both the Dulles Toll Road and the Dulles International Airport Access Highway are scheduled.
The Access Road detour (see details in the item above) will be combined with a closing and detour of the eastbound Dulles Toll Road, also near Route 7. The toll road closing also will be a gradual closure and all times are approximate:
· 8 p.m. - The three left lanes of the eastbound Toll Road will close near Route 7.
· 10 p.m. - Eastbound toll road traffic will be switched on to the eastbound Access Road.
These closures will only be implemented overnight July 21 and 22 of this week, and as needed through the end of July.
Lane Shifts of Eastbound Dulles Connector Road (Route 267) at Bus Ramp Loop and Flyover to I-66 Coming Friday and Saturday nights
Motorists and bus drivers who use the eastbound Dulles Connector Road (Route 267) toward I-66 east and the bus loop into the West Falls Church Metrorail Station should be aware of a lane shift that will split the two lanes of eastbound through traffic from the bus lane.
The two eastbound lanes will be shifted slightly to the left, creating a barrier between thru traffic and the bus lane. Both the thru traffic and buses will need to exit on to their respective lanes when the split is in place.
This split is expected to be implemented during the overnight hours of Friday, July 22 and Saturday, July 23 and will be in place through the end of 2011.
Capital One Drive to Close Overnights for Bridge Work
Capital One Drive, the main entrance to the Capital One campus, will close from 11 p.m. to 5 a.m. Thursday, July 21 and Friday, July 22. Bridge crews will be working over the roadway.
To access Capital One, use Scotts Crossing Road off Route 123.
These closures will continue as needed over the next three to four weeks as the bridge is constructed.
