MCLEAN, VA— The National Park Service closed the Turkey Run Loop Road and parking lots on Monday so that repairs and repaving can begin on the road surfaces.
Turkey Run Park and its trails will remain open during the roadwork. But the only way to access them will be on foot on the Potomac Heritage National Scenic Trail. The park is about two miles south of the American Legion Bridge and four miles north of Fort Marcy on the Potomac Heritage Trail.
The road and parking lot will be closed through October, the NPS said. The park is normally available by car by taking the exit for Turkey Run Park off the George Washington Memorial Parkway.

The NPS will mill and resurface Turkey Run Loop Road and the parking lots in the park. The repaired pavement surfaces will also receive new pavement markings, according to the park service.
This road and parking lot project at Turkey Run Park will be funded by park entrance fees at Great Falls Park, the NPS said.
