VDOT To Close Old Dominion Drive In McLean For Pipe Replacement

Old Dominion Drive will be closed to traffic between Balls Hill Road and Route 123 in McLean for two days starting Aug. 8, VDOT said.

MCLEAN, VA — Old Dominion Drive will be closed to traffic between Balls Hill Road and Route 123 in McLean for two days starting Aug. 8 to replace stormwater pipes, according to the Virginia Department of Transportation.

People who need to reach properties along Old Dominion Drive during the road closure will have access. However, traffic will not be able to go beyond the point of pipe replacement at Greyson Woods Lane in either direction, VDOT said.

Old Dominion Drive between Balls Hill Road and Route 123 will be closed from 9 a.m. on Monday, Aug. 8 to 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 9.

Traffic will be detoured using Balls Hill Road, Lewinsville Road (Route 694) and Route 123 back to Old Dominion Drive. Drivers should follow posted detour signs.

On Wednesday, Aug. 10, drivers can expect one lane of alternating traffic at Old Dominion Drive and Greyson Woods Lane between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. Workers will guide the alternating traffic using flags.

Work on the stormwater pipe replacement project will be conducted weather permitting, VDOT said.
