Arcadia Plans Farm Fallfest 'Funtacular' on Sunday

Spend the the day at Arcadia Farm Sunday celebrating all things farm, fall, fest, family, food, and fun on the grounds of Woodlawn Estate in Alexandria. The event is scheduled from 1 to 5 p.m.

This family-friendly (and free) festival features old-fashioned games, cake walks, a pie-eating contest, a pumpkin patch, chicken encounters, farm yoga, farm volunteering, live music and fall donuts.

Experience educational farm stations, meet farm staff, learn about compost and seed saving, commune with the Ladies (the farm’s laying hens), participate in a cooking demonstration, and take a guided tour through Arcadia’s Mobile Market, Woodlawn Mansion and the Pope-Leighey House. Snacks will include fall donuts and charcuterie. Food Truck goodies will also be available. You can also bring your own picnic or purchase some of the delicious food onsite.

Admission is free, but Arcadia asks that you RSVP so they can plan properly.

Also onsite: A pumpkin “patch.” You can reserve a small pumpkin with a $5 deposit, and a larger pumpkin suitable for carving with a deposit of $10. Your deposit will be applied to the pumpkin’s final price. A limited number of pumpkins will be available for sale the day of the event. Please pre-order to guarantee Arcadia will have your pumpkin needs covered.

You can also round out your picnic basket with a sampling of Red Apron salamis, sausages, pickles and crostini. Made by hand in Washington, DC and sourced locally from 100 percent Animal Welfare-Approved pork. Cost is $20.
