Homicide Investigation: Woman Being Held for Questioning, Police Say

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- Police are investigating a homicide Monday in the Mount Vernon area of Fairfax County, the Fairfax County Police Department announced Monday night.
Monday afternoon, at around 3:19 p.m., patrol officers from the Mount Vernon District were called to the South County Government Center located at 8350 Richmond Highway for a suspicious event report, police said. Staff from the Government Center explained to officers that a woman had walked in and reported a deceased man was in her apartment, according to police.
Officers and paramedics with the Fairfax County Fire and Rescue Department responded to the residence, located in the 5300 block of Bedford Terrace (see map below), along with the woman, where an unresponsive adult male with trauma to the upper body was located, according to police. The man was confirmed deceased and detectives were summoned to assume the investigation.

At this time, police said, the woman is being held for questioning and the preliminary investigation has revealed that there was a prior relationship between her and the victim.
