• George Washington's mansion at Mount Vernon reopens after two-year, $40M renovation (wtvr.com) — George Washington’s Mount Vernon mansion has reopened its first and second floors after a $40 million preservation project, giving local visitors fresh access to newly restored rooms and Washington’s bedroom. Work continues on the cellar and structural upgrades through 2026, but residents can now tour much of the house again and see artifacts uncovered during the renovation, including 18th-century bottles and an old fork.
