K-9 Team, FCPD Chopper Help Apprehend Suspect in Assault, Robbery on Richmond Highway: Police

Police say three men attacked a pedestrian and robbed him Saturday; one suspect was apprehended after a search by K9 and helicopter.

FAIRFAX COUNTY, VA -- Fairfax County Police report that a man was assaulted and robbed by three suspects Saturday afternoon in the 8200 block of Richmond Highway (see map below).

Police say the incident took place shortly before 5 p.m. Saturday, when a 26-year old man was walking and was approached by three men who punched him and threw him to the ground.

The suspects searched the victim’s pockets, stole his cell phone and then ran away, according to police. The victim did not require medical attention.

Fairfax 1 and a K9 team joined patrol officers in an extensive search of the area. At least one suspect was located about an hour later. The investigation continues, police said.
